1 BILLION EURO SUPPORT TO ENVIRONMENTAL AND

INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENTS

A total of 930 million Euro grant support has been provided to municipalities within the scope of the Euro-
pean Union IPA programs of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. Within the
scope of the program, 109 million euros of the national contribution share was allocated for environmen-
tal investments of municipalities in Turkey. In total, 1 billion Euros was given to municipalities as a grant
for environmental investments.

Through the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance -IPA program, which aims to prepare the can-
didate countries for the membership process, to support the harmonization of the union legislation,
and to strengthen the technical and administrative infrastructure necessary for membership by the
European Union, technical and administrative infrastructure investment requirements of local gover-
nments and capacity building demands of central institutions regarding the environmental sector are
met. With 51 projects in 7 geographical regions and 36 provinces, more than 12 million citizens are
provided with improved drinking water supply, wastewater treatment and solid waste manage-
ment services at EU standards with IPA projects.

1 BILLION EURO GRANT TO

MUNICIPALITIES

A total of 930 million Euro grant support was provided
to Turkey through the European Union IPA programs
that support environmental investments to date.

Within the scope of the program, 109 million euros of the
national contribution share was allocated for environmental
investments of municipalities in Turkey.

In total, approximately 1 billion Euros was given to municipa-
lities as a grant for environmental investments. As a result of
the studies carried out by the General Directorate of Euro-
pean Union and Foreign Relations affiliated to the Ministry
of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, works
are carried out to increase the infrastructure of cities to EU
standards with the grant support provided to the country.
