Stating that as Turkey, they will update the National Contribution Statement until the end of 2022 in line with
the 2053 net zero emission target announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister Kurum stated that
negotiation processes with all parties continue in this direction. Minister Murat Kurum continued his speech as
follows:
“After 3 centuries since the industrial revolution, now we are on the verge of a great change,
transformation, even revolution again.
Turkey thinks that whatever needs to be done urgently to combat climate change, the way to do this is
through international solidarity and climate finance. Today we think that the role of the private sector and
the business world with global capital is very important, they should take on much greater responsibilities.
These international companies should support the world more than many states, they should make more
efforts for the welfare of humanity. In this sense, as Turkey; We work very hard with our private sector to take
full advantage of technology, smart applications and initiatives, and renewable energy to combat climate
change.“
“A Fairer World Is Possible”
Stating that as Turkey, they always act with the belief that “a fairer world is possible”, Minister Murat Kurum said:
“Our expectation from the world is that the disadvantaged, most affected by climate change and
developing countries do not become more fragile during their struggle with climate change, and
that these countries are given full support.”
