IN CLIMATE COUNCIL INTENSE

The Climate Council, organized for the first time in Turkey by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate
Change, also hosted diplomatic contacts. Minister Kurum held meetings with the Head of the European Union (EU) De-
legation to Turkey Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, the UN Climate Change Framework Convention Deputy Exe-
cutive Director Ovais Sarmad, the World Bank Turkey Director Auguste Kouame and the British Ambassador Dominick
Chilcott at the Climate Council held in Konya.
Turkey’s Emissions Trading System Will Develop In A Structure Compatible With The EU
Minister Murat Kurum met with the Head of the EU Delegation to Turkey, Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, on the
second day of the Climate Council held at the Selçuk Congress Center. During the meeting, the importance of Tur-
key-EU relations was emphasized.
He conveyed to Meyer-Landrut, Head of EU Delegation, the projects and works carried out by
Turkey within the scope of combating climate change, and stated that it is planned to develop
the Turkish Emissions Trading System in a structure compatible with the EU.
Ambassador Meyer-Landrut also stated that they follow Turkey’s fight against climate change and the projects it has
undertaken, and congratulated Minister Kurum for the successful continuation of the Climate Council. During the mee-
ting, views were exchanged on the projects carried out between Turkey and the EU on combating climate change.

Deputy Executive Director of the UN Framework Con-
vention on Climate Change, as part of his international
contacts.
At the meeting, Turkey’s efforts to combat climate chan-
ge and projects to be implemented with the aim of “gre-
en development revolution” were discussed.
