the CRIC22 meetings in the Turkish Delegation to COP16 notes the critical
information discussed at this meeting, and before the COP16 meetings – if he
deems it necessary and thinks that it is the right time - he will be able to make
interventions primarily during the Annex-IV and JUSCANZ meetings, and
then only as the Türkiye group during the CRIC22 meetings (UNCCD, 2024).
5.2.6 CST16 Meetings (December 2-12, 2024)
Regarding the CST16 Agenda (Table 3), an expert from Department for
Combating Desertification of the Directorate General of the ÇEM has been
assigned to examine and summarize each CST16 agenda item. The relevant
expert examined the agenda item given to him and summarized and presented
the relevant agenda item at the meeting where all CST16 agenda items were
discussed at the ÇEM General Directorate. The representative who will attend
the CST16 meetings in the Turkish Delegation to COP16 notes the critical

5.2.7. Regional Implementation Annex Meetings
(November 30-December 1, 2024)
Türkiye is in the Northern Mediterranean Regional Implementation Annex
(Annex-IV) among five regional implementation annexes of UNCCD. There
are 12 countries in Annex-IV. Annex-IV meetings will be held in-person on
November 30-December 1, 2024 and December 2-13, 2024 every day from
08:00 to 10:00 before COP 16. During the month preceding these meetings
(November 2024), 12 national focal points will communicate via e-mail, and
Annex-IV Countries will work on the drafts of the COP16, CRIC22 and CST16
Opening Speeches. The draft texts will be finalised at the in-person meetings
on November 30-December 1, 2024. Preparations for the COP16, CRIC22 and
CST16 Closing Speeches of Annex-IV Countries will be realised at the daily
meetings to be held during the second week of COP16.
In order to avoid any sentence or word against the interests of our country
in the texts and speeches that will be accepted on behalf of our country at
COP16, it is considered that it is vital to obtain the contact information of the
relevant representative of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara, in
case of a question mark over the mind, to contact the relevant representative
immediately and get information.
