Breath: the Source of Life
                                 “Air Quality Modelling Applications”

In addition, a module specific for making emission calculations based on
point sources has been developed, and a national emission factors library has
been formed for main sectors (Özdemir, 2021).
In the spatial source module, the main domestic heating, organized industrial
zones, waste storage areas were covered and the emission factors included in
the EMEP/EEA joint calculation guide were used. Type of fuel and the amount
of fuel use for domestic heating is undoubtedly of great importance. In the
context of activity data, data infrastructure of the relevant organisations in
Türkiye is sufficient for providing the relevant data for natural gas. However, if
the written data exchanged between importer/ manufacturer-distributor and
sellers for identifying the solid fuel amounts cannot be recorded electronically,
this data fails to be obtained as information. In this scope, a solid fuel module
has been developed within the HEY Portal to monitor the life cycle of solid fuel.
All of the solid fuel sales, distribution and permit certification processes required
within the scope of the Regulation on the Control of Air Pollution Caused by
Heating have been automated by transferring this data to electronic media,
including the flow of official documents. Thus, this process allowed minimising
the bureaucracy, giving up the use of paper, and saving in time and workforce in
registering the documents and preparing the permit documents.
HEY Portal, with its more than 4800 active users, currently makes it possible
to monitor electronically the stock process of solid fuels which contribute
to domestic heating emissions. Figure 3 shows the number of documents
recorded in electronic form via the Solid Fuel Module.
