Table 5: Torbalı Planned Approach aimed at the year 2042 (Original study)
Decreasing fossil fuel consumption in Torbalı settlement and increasing
renewable energy use through biogas facility will enable power generation
from animal waste as well as returning the waste back to soil.
To develop a resilient infrastructure, the Ministry of Transportation suggests
sustainable transportation plans that prioritize walkable areas and integrate
light railway systems, trams, public transport on tires and bikes. Central roads
that facilitate public transport were discussed again, and accessibility was
maintained. Moreover, unit centers were created to meet daily needs at a
walking distance and the use of private cars was decreased (Maps 14-15). To
improve infrastructure and to enable rainwater collection, it was decided to
extend roads below 20 m to above 20 m. Moreover, through the integration
of renewable energy, public transport and pedestrian access, it was aimed to
decrease carbon footprint to zero.
