The significance of pastures
the fact that meadow and pasture data was not updated after the 2001
General Agriculture Inventory (TÜİK, 2021c). In the light of the information
on the pasture permissions observed in the study, concerns emerge as to the
reliability of the TÜİK (2021c) data. It is known that the pastures of Türkiye
have been decreasing qualitatively as well as quantitatively every passing day
(Figure 5).

One of the most important criteria in resilience to climate change, which
has serious effects on water and food security, is mitigation of greenhouse
gas emissions. For this purpose, emission mitigation strategies should be
developed for all sub-sectors that cause emission (Ağaçayak and Öztürk, 2017).
The biggest effect of climate change is drought. Droughts experienced in
countries like Türkiye, whose main economic sector is expected to have certain
negative effects. These effects include losses in plant and animal products,
decrease in product quality, increase in plant and animal diseases, decrease
in the yield of forage plants, and limited access to forage plants for livestock
breeding. Other potential negative effects of droughts include decrease
in the income of rural producers, decrease in agricultural employment and
the ensuing migration from rural to urban areas, insufficient raw material for
industries based on agriculture, erosion and food insecurity.
Various suggestions are made in literature to mitigate greenhouse gas
emissions based on agricultural sector and the negative effects of climate
change (Yalçın and Kara, 2014; Koç et al, 2016; Koç and Uzmay, 2016; Gökkür
and Uysal, 2020). These suggestions include;
• Protecting water resources through preventing excessive irrigation,
raising awareness of rural producers, imposing enforcements,
