• Supervising the use of chemical fertilizers to mitigate greenhouse
gas emissions based on agricultural sector, raising awareness of rural
producers, imposing enforcements,
• Facilitating agricultural loans and insurance in areas affected by
droughts,
• Identifying the effects of droughts on the basis of products and the
crop varieties that can withstand drought,
• Taking climate effect into account when preparing agricultural policies,
and updating laws accordingly,
• Promoting renewable energy sources in agricultural sector,
• Providing gender equality among rural producers, informing and
authorizing women especially in agricultural and non-agricultural water
management, and promoting their inclusion in production,
• Giving relevant education in schools in urban and rural areas to raise
awareness of children in terms of environment/nature,
• Preventing the appropriation of forests, farms and pastures for other
uses, and thus, preventing the destruction of environment/nature,
• Providing the adaptation of livestock breeding to climate change
through more quality silage, breeding animals that are more resistant
to changes in temperatures, breeding new animal breeds that can
withstand stress, efficient fertilizer transport and storage management,
grazing management and pasture improvement practices,
• Varying and improving pastures and improving farming conditions,
• Creating cold-chain,
• Providing publications and funding for rural producers,
• Transition of consumers to local and sustainable food systems,
regulating eating habits and improving food security.
Additionally, to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions based on agricultural
sector, it is recommended to arrange more efficient enteric fermentation
in livestock breeding through the use of more nutritious forage plants.
Through improved nutritional practices like improving grazing conditions
and increasing the fertility of animals (e.g., animals that feed on grass only)
and special nutritional additives, it is possible to provide emission mitigation.
In their studies, Ağaçayak and Öztürk (2017) suggest three policies and 14
criteria towards mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions based on agricultural
sector:
