VISIT OF APPRECIATION FROM COP26

Mrs. Emine Erdoğan met with Alok Sharma, President of the 26 Conference of the
Parties (COP26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
(UNFCCC).
COP26 President Alok Sharma paid an appreciation visit to Mrs. Emine Erdoğan. Minister of Environment, Urbanization
and Climate Change Murat Kurum, Deputy Minister and Chief Negotiator on Climate Change Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin
Birpınar and Deputy Head of Mission of the British Embassy in Ankara Marianne Young also attended the meeting at
the Presidential Complex State Guest House.
We Appreciate Türkiye’s Environmental Projects
Expressing their satisfaction with the fact that Türkiye has signed the Paris Agreement, Sharma stated that they
appreciate Mrs. Emine Erdoğan’s contributions to environmental projects, especially the Zero Waste Project. Stating
that he visited the largest solar power plant in Türkiye and Europe in Karapınar district of Konya within the scope of
his visit to Türkiye, Sharma stated that he is very impressed with the facility and that he closely follows Türkiye’s works
on renewable energy. Sharma stated that they fully support the studies in this field.
