ABSTRACT
This study examines the establishment of new carbon sink areas in non-
forest lands and the importance of carbon farming practices in the context of
climate change adaptation. For this purpose, the feasibility of sustainable land
management (SLM) and carbon farming projects were investigated to mitigate
the negative impacts of climate change and within climate change mitigation
policies. Various approaches, such as agroforestry, sustainable soil management,
and afforestation projects, have been proposed to balance land degradation
and enhance ecosystem services. The study offers legislation and policy
recommendations for carbon farming practices in Türkiye and evaluates the
compliance of these practices with carbon certification and crediting processes.
