KAHRAMANMARAŞ EARTHQUAKES ON THE

BUSINESS WORLD

ABSTRACT
In the consecutive earthquakes that occurred in Kahramanmaraş on February
6, 2023, more than 50,000 citizens, each of whom was considered a precious
part of Türkiye, lost their lives, and great devastation was experienced in 11
provinces. Alongside the irreparable loss of lives, these 11 provinces were also
severely affected socioeconomically. Our government, with all its institutions,
has been conducting significant efforts to mitigate the effects of this
destruction and return to normal life. Undoubtedly, the Union of Chambers and
Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), which is the umbrella organization
of the Turkish business world, took immediate and subsequent intensive
actions in the earthquake-stricken region to expedite the recovery process.
This article will address both the impacts of the February 6 earthquakes on
the business world and the activities carried out by TOBB in the earthquake-
stricken region.
