4.2.5. Istanbul Workshop (26/27 April 2023)
In order to achieve more efficient and applicable results, a 2-day workshop
was organized in İstanbul on April 26/27, 2023 with the participation of
committee members under the chairmanship of Fatma Varank, Deputy
Chairman of the Turkish National Risk Shield Model Committee and
Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. A very
comprehensive report was prepared at the end of the Workshop organized
in the form of round tables, mixed committee meetings and committee
meetings.

Conclusion
Disasters, conflicts, climate crisis, pandemic, economic crises and
instabilities have started to threaten all of humanity in recent years, and
humanity almost faces a crisis of existence. All countries are taking various
initiatives, developing solutions and implementing new models to cope with
such problems. Türkiye has also faced the most earthquake disasters because
of being located in a risky geography in terms of seismicity. The 1939 Erzincan
Earthquake, the 1999 Marmara Earthquake, the 2023 Kahramanmaraş
Earthquakes, and if we go back a little further, the 1509 İstanbul Earthquake,
called the Minor Apocalypse, and many others, are still alive in our collective
memories. Again, the disasters such as floods, forest fires, landslides, drought
