               City of Amasya

3.1. Sample Area of the Study
Within the scope of the study, Amasya, an Anatolian city located in the
Central Black Sea Region, was selected as the sample area. The city of
Amasya is located in a narrow valley shaped by the Yeşilırmak River on the
southern slopes of Mount Harşena. Surrounded by steep cliffs on four sides
on a mountainous topography, the city has developed linearly along the river
flowing in the southwest and northeast directions.
