Currently, there are a total of 135 commercial CCUS facilities designed in
various sectors, including cement, iron & steel, energy production and direct
air capture. 28 of them are currently operational. There has been a serious
increase in the number of CCUS projects. By the end of 2020, the capacity of
projects under development was 75 Mt/year, which increased by 48% to 111
Mt/year in September 2021. (GCCSI, 2021b, 2021a). The bar chart displaying
the states of existing CCUS facilities is given in Figure 6. Moreover, Table
1 shows the locations of these facilities along with their numbers. (GCCSI,
2021b).
