1. Seismic Isolation in the Turkish Building Earthquake Regulation (2018)
The rules for the design of seismic isolation structures were not included
in the previous Turkish regulations, but they were addressed for the first time
in the Turkish Building Earthquake Regulation (TBDY, 2018) under the title
“Chapter 14-Special Rules For the Design of Buildings with Isolation Load-
Bearing Systems Under the Impact of Earthquakes”. However, in order to
have the design of a structure with seismic isolation, other issues requiring
advanced analysis as well as the relevant parts of the regulation must also be
taken into account. Main stages in the design of a seismic isolation building
are summarized below:
