Preface
Preface
reetings from the Journal of Environment, Urban and Climate. We
Gpresented to the attention of our readers the first three issue of our
Journal of Environment, Urban and Climate under the themes of “Climate
Change”, “Resilient Cities”, “Sustainable Development and Environment”
respectively, with the valuable contribution of our esteemed scholars and
scientists. At a time when we were preparing for the fourth issue of our journal,
we were unfortunately shocked, as a country and nation, by the devastating
earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, 2023. First of all, we
wish mercy from Almighty Allah to our citizens who lost their lives due to this
earthquake, urgent healing to the injured ones; condolences to our country
and our nation. We started to use every means available immediately after the
first moment of the earthquake to heal the wounds of the state and the nation,
and the works in the earthquake zone have been conducted continuously.
We continue our academic studies meticulously in order to prevent the loss
of life and destruction caused by disasters and to reduce the negative effects
of similar disasters. Because, we reiterate that the science is the first step
towards combating all disasters, the earthquakes in particular.
Based on this fact, we tried to explain the necessity of increasing urban
resilience against all disasters, especially earthquakes, by addressing the
valuable works of our esteemed scientists in our previous issue under the
theme of “Resilient Cities”. However, we would like to emphasize again, with
your valuable contributions as well, the importance of urban transformation in
increasing the urban resilience against disasters and preventing loss of life and
property in these days when we still feel the effects of the recent disaster. We
aim to integrate the scientific studies prepared for our current issue with the
studies conducted by the Ministry and use them as a roadmap. At this point,
the scientific studies in this issue under the theme of “Urban Transformation”
