The concept of Smart City has been drawing increasingly more attention in
recent years by academics, operators, and decision makers in conferences and
scientific and political meetings (Moser et al, 2014: 508). Denizli Metropolitan
Municipality has implemented many studies and applications in this field
as also shown in the tables. To illustrate, thanks to SCADA system built to
prevent water leakage, it is possible to monitor 67 drinking water reservoirs,
87 boreholes, 12 pumping stations, 2 air pressure tanks, 2 Solar Power Plants,
16 portable treatment plants, 8 treatment plant pumping stations, 1 concrete
treatment plant, 62 pressure chambers to measure drinking water, 147 flow
meters, 140 motor-operated valves, and 96 pressure sensors.
With smart city applications, it is aimed to make Denizli environmentally-
friendly city which uses resources efficiently and facilitates the lives of its
residents through the technologies it provides. To this end, great importance
is attached to developing applications and technological advances area
monitored closely to meet the needs of the residents in the quickest and most
efficient way possible.
Conclusion
Resilience means the ability of a system, community or society exposed to
dangers to endure these dangers in a timely and efficient fashion, reducing
the effects of these dangers, adapting to these dangers in a certain way and
protecting itself from these dangers. Insufficient infrastructure services may
lead to environmental disruption and illegal housing. Moreover, climate
change leads to the emergence of new threats in the cities. Minimizing the
