RESILIENT SETTLEMENT - BUILDING RELATION
                                AND SUSTAINABILITY

                                     Elif Özlem AYDIN

                                        ABSTRACT
The need for resilient settlement models that are sensitive to the environmental and climate problems
we live in today, focused on reducing ecological footprints, is increasing with each passing day. In
this study, the concept of resilient settlement is described and the transformations experienced due to
critical periods, which can be described as "revolution" based on the productions that human beings
consider beneficial for themselves, are explained. The settlements shaped by the impact of these
revolutions and the level of environmental impact of the building constructions in these settlements
and the importance of sustainable building and planning are emphasized. The ecologically resistant
aspects of historical textures in Anatolia, which have survived for centuries as a settlement lands and
are still important settlement centers, are emphasized. Considering the resistant aspects that make
traditional textures superior in their survival, how we can be articulated with traditional textures and
how new resistant and sustainable settlements of the future can be constructed were discussed.
