Parties (COP)
The first COP meeting was held in parallel with CST meeting. It was
decided that the headquarters of the UNCCD Secretariat would

the UNCCD (GM) would be steered by the International Fund for
Agricultural Development (IFAD) based in Rome, Italy.
The CRIC, another subsidiary body of the UNCCD,

COP8 2007 "UNCCD's first Ten-Year Strategy Plan" was adopted.
It was decided to relieve the Financial Mechanism from the Rome-

COP11 2013 The Science–Policy Interface (SPI) was established.
UN member states adopted the 2030 Sustainable Development
Agenda, which is a roadmap aimed to be completed in 2030 in
order to achieve the goals of eliminating poverty, protecting our

14th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP14) held in New
COP14 2019 Delhi, India, addressed the work programs proposed in the new
thematic fields which were agreed at COP 13.
COP15 held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, dealt with the progress in
a number of thematic policy fields to guide i. social gender, ii.
drought, iii. sand and dust storms (SDS) and iv. migration programs

that were stipulated at the previous COP13. At COP 15, 38 resolu-
tions were adopted on improving drought resilience, mitigating the
land degradation and investing in land restoration efforts.
