Settlement Model From Lowlands to Mountains
May Prevent Carbon Dioxide Toxicity
Conclusions and Suggestions
Alluvium is like “mother’s milk” for plants; it provides the rich support of
organic and inorganic substances that plants need. We must stop filling these
fertile agricultural lands with concrete. It is also a constitutional and legal
requirement that the plains be used only for agriculture and the sound rocky
areas bordering the plain be used for settlement and other constructions.

Earthquakes have a destructive effect on loose soils such as plains, while
earthquake shaking is less felt on solid rocky soils. It is obvious that the
“settlement model from lowlands to mountains” announced by the Ministry
of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change is the most advanced
and correct step taken so far to prevent earthquakes, which are a natural
phenomenon, from turning into a disaster. In this article, efforts were put to
show that this model can also have positive results in terms of human health
and agricultural productivity in the light of the existing scientific literature.
CO breathed out by respiration and from various artificial sources quickly
2
accumulates downwards. The air with CO concentration of up to 1200 ppm is
2
a type of fertilizer for plants. Therefore, the “settlement model from lowlands
to mountains” on the one hand, allows less CO concentration in the air
2
inhaled in cities, on the other hand, it can increase agricultural productivity in
the plains.
As a result, in an era when the global outdoor environment CO values are
2
pushing the limits set for human health and food inflation is moving towards
a food crisis, the settlement model from lowlands to mountains may provide
significant gains to public health by providing a cleaner air for the cities under
the additional CO load, and to agricultural production by forming a layer with
2
a high content of CO over the plains.

Acknowledgement
It has been voiced by Geology Engineer, Prof. Dr. Ilyas Yılmazer, in local
and national media for many years that the CO and O exchange between
2 2
human beings living on slopes and plants growing on the lowlands would be
very beneficial for both sides, which is an argument being detailed and being
based on scientific grounds in this article. I would like to thank him both for
instilling this idea to the public and the scientific world, and for the valuable
contributions he made during the writing of this article.
