1. Introduction: Türkiye in the World Conjuncture
We are going through a chaotic period in which changes and transformations
guiding the history of humanity are experienced in the first quarter of 21st
century so-called digital age. At such a time when the pains of a new world
being re-born are felt, competitive restrictions in global trade, wars, conflicts
and crises experienced at the regional and local levels, epidemics, disasters
related to the climate crisis threaten all humanity and societies as a tangible
source of instability of the modern era. The global system based on the
principle of interdependence has failed to work for the first time since II. World
War, and political, diplomatic and commercial relations between states have
been disrupted at such extent perhaps for the first time. Especially along with
the Russia-Ukraine War, the political, economic and social based restrictions
between the west and east of the world further increase the severity of this
instability.
The wars taking place in Ukraine, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Yemen,
epidemics, earthquakes, floods, water and food crises occurring on earth
clearly reveal that the world is experiencing an era, a period of crisis. On
the other hand, in the new conjuncture caused by the geopolitical reasons
between Russia and Ukraine, many countries of the world and especially
European countries are facing great risks and threats under the load of the
new conditions. The problems faced in the energy and grain supply due to
war increase the severity of these risks and threats due to the climate crisis.
Heating and production problems due to the energy crisis encountered by
European countries, food crises as a result of the problems in grain supply in
Africa, the Middle East and South East Asian countries have become the most
important agenda item of the world. In other words, the new conjuncture
emerged as a result of war, conflict and disasters related to the climate crisis
triggers a new global crisis. In this regard, it would not be wrong to say that
the world has entered an era of crisis induced by disasters. Taking into account
all these events, we see that the number of stable regions and countries on
the world map is decreasing gradually. On this map, Türkiye is at the center
of stability and peace in its region and in the world despite the wars, conflicts
and all other crises experienced in its immediate geography. In addition,
Türkiye makes great contributions to global stability at the same time with its
foreign political approaches putting the peace and tranquility at its center.
