               Discussion and Conclusion
Cycling has been one of the prominent modes in today’s transport sector
which provides significant contribution to ensuring environmental sustainability,
in particular. Taking into account that the today’s car-dependent urbanization
and transport planning constantly reiterates environmental, economic and
social problems within a cycle, we will highlight the most significant points
from the examples of best practices examined in the scope of the research in
order to understand how cycling culture will be created for Turkish cities and
how the cycling will be used as a transport means.
When the best practice examples examined within the scope of the study are
reviewed to understand what kind of steps have been taken to adopt bicycle
culture in these cities and to consider bicycle as a means of transportation,
Table 3 shows that some plans, policies, events, initiatives and partnerships
come to the fore in the development of cycling.
