Global Problem: Climate Change

To this powerful goal, first of all, there is need for a strong organization,
and later, a solid legal foundation. Therefore, our ministry went under a
reconstruction and Ministry of Climate Change was established. As the General
Directorate of Meteorology previously operating as part of the Ministry of
Agriculture and Forestry was also linked to our ministry, it was possible to
combine address all issue under the same roof. In addition, Our ministry was
also assigned the duty of coordinating The United Nations Convention to
Combat Desertification, and the United Nations Framework Convention on
Climate Change signed in 1992, also known as the Rio conventions, which
allowed it to manage this field along with climate change.
                                                               8
In order to reach the 2053 carbon neutrality goal, there need to be
transformations made in many points. Moreover, intermediate objectives
should be determined, and sectoral analyses and goals must be announced.
To this end, as well as for preparation of a fundamental requirement of Paris
Climate Agreement, a comprehensive “Nationally Determined Contributions”
in line with the 2053 goal, organizing an inclusive and transparent climate
convention involving all layers of society such as business and finance, public
institutions, scientists, and non-governmental organizations will pave the way
for our 2053 course of action.
Additionally, we will continue to adapt to the increasingly widespread green
order applications around the world, make our national green deal action plan
more efficient, make efforts to establish a national emission trading system,
which is one of the most important methods in protecting our industry as well
as mitigating emissions. In terms of laws, with the climate law passed upon the
will of our Gazi Parliament, our course of action will gain a legal basis.
All these developments will prevent emissions harmful for climate, also
contributing to the rise in air quality. Moreover, local practices will reduce
foreign source dependency and prevent additional emissions caused by
            imported products and services.
In addition to providing a healthy environment and clean air and raising
the standards of living, green transformation will make way for new job
opportunities. The potential for employment presented by numerous lines
of work such as charging stations for electric vehicles, technologies for more
durable batteries, storage of energy, the widespread use of bicycles and
electric scooters, expansion of the market for climate friendly products will
contribute greatly to the welfare of our people.
