Preface
Greetings from the Journal of Environment, Urban and Climate
nternational organizations, states, non-governmental organizations and
Iprivate sector representatives conduct multi-faceted studies on developing
policies for the problems caused by the climate crisis, offering solutions, putting
forward innovative applications and approaches. In this regard, the United Nations
(UN) Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Convention to Combat
Desertification have marked as two important policy documents in terms of
environmental history. Conference of the Parties (COP) meetings are held under
the leadership of the UN in relation to these two conventions, which become
more and more dynamic with the emergence of new and different problems
with each passing day. At each COP meeting, the parties come together and
make important decisions about both problems that are closely related to the
future of the world and realize them. Türkiye, which play an active role in all these
processes, hosted COP12, the Conference of the Parties to the Convention
to Combat Desertification, in 2015. This year, COP29 on climate change will
be held in Azerbaijan and COP16 on desertification in Riyadh. The Ministry of
Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change also continues its preparations
to represent Türkiye in the best way with all its stakeholders in these meetings,
where all responsible and relevant institutions, organizations, private sector and
civil society representatives of our country are expected to participate intensively.
As part of these studies, we, as the Journal of Environment, Urban and Climate
intend to take part in these meetings with a Special Issue and present some of the
scientific and technical studies to the international public in this way. We sincerely
extend our respects wishing that this document would contribute to the studies
of both researchers, decision makers and implementers.
