Sustainability in The Era of Türkiye

In Türkiye, in the last twenty years, environmental factors have been prioritized,
policies have been developed based on the sustainable environment, and
successful green transformation actions have been performed in many sectors
such as industry, heating, transportation and energy, and activities have been
started in order to spread sustainable production and consumption patterns.
In this regard, the United Nations’ designation of March 30 as “International
Zero Waste Day” (UN General Assembly, 2022) with the initiative of Türkiye is
a success and one of the great accomplishments of Türkiye globally.
The same determination is also revealed in the theme of the Era of Türkiye,
which was announced just a few months before the centennial journey of the
Republic of Türkiye. Within this theme, it has been stated that the targets
determined by the previous policies would be moved to a better point, and
steps could be taken towards the carbon-neutral target by 2053 in line with
the green development vision, and hence for the sustainable environment. It
is evident that this situation will contribute to the increase of both the quality
of life and the employment potential that will be created by environmental
investments, an area open to dynamic and technological innovation, as well
as to the improvement of the level of social welfare.
