Investigation of Urban Green Areas from The Framework of
Sustainable Urbanization on The Case of Amasya
• The urban green system should be integrated with educational
institutions such as primary schools, secondary schools, high schools
and universities.
• Residential areas and green areas should be located in close proximity,
and there should be safe neighborhood and local area parks open for
effective use in neighborhood units.
• Green areas should not be overlooked in the land development plans
in accordance with local governments’ voting concerns and urban
rents, but should be planned in line with the standards.
With this study, it is aimed to point out the fact that green areas are facing
the danger of extinction in the city of Amasya, a medium-sized Black Sea city,
by drawing the attention of local governments and local people for handing
the Amasya city down to the future generations as a livable city. Cities with
rivers passing through them, such as the city of Amasya, have more effective
use of space than other cities in terms of green space capacities. In particular,
it is believed that studies can be conducted to solve the implementation
problems related to the destruction of public spaces by considering the
use of roads and coastal areas as recreation areas, the protection of existing
green areas in the city and raising public awareness on this issue, as well as
sustainable urbanization based on the participation.
