• The Concept of Cloud Computing: Although there are various
definitions of cloud computing, the U.S. National Institute of Standards
and Technology defines this concept as the ‘model for enabling
ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of
configurable computing resources such as networks, servers, storage,
applications, and services that can be rapidly provisioned and released
with minimal management effort or service provider interaction’. In
other words, the cloud computing is a new type of informatics as the
services in which flexible and dynamically scalable and intensively
virtualizable resources are provided over the Internet (Turan, 2014). The
data being produced each day is getting more diverse and greater
in size. In particular, the storage capacity causes big problems on the
current devices in today’s technology, because users want to store
more personal data as much as possible. Cloud Technology, which
has emerged as a solution to these problems, is defined as software
applications, data storage services and processing capacity accessed
over the internet (Bulut, 2018). Cloud Computing Technology is
considered as a wireless and rational effective solution brought to the
data storage service.
• The Concept of Big Data: Since traditional data analytics methods
are insufficient in this environment where many devices constantly
send data with the widespread internet of things, new generation
data analytics methods have been required. The big data method,
on the other hand, needs more comprehensive tools, algorithms and
platforms unlike other methods. E-commerce, messaging, location
sharing, e-applications made on the internet, all types of interaction
and communication made through sensor devices generate and record
high volumes of data digitally, with or without users being aware of
it. In other words, with rapidly advanced technology, almost everyone,
everything, every interaction and communication leaves a digital trace
(McKinsey Company, 2013). Big data consists of everything that is
edited and unedited, captured and saved by modern information and
communication technologies such as network sensors, smart objects
and devices, web and social media. The storage and processing of this
big data constitutes an important pillar of the smart city platform. The
way for intelligent systems to produce intelligent solutions is that the
big data collected from thousands of sensors every day is transformed
into value added information for urban people and managers by
passing through intelligent processes (ISBAK, 2017; Köseoğlu and
Demirci, 2018).
