Construction of Bismil Wastewater Project Proceeding Rapidly
12th Monthly Progress Meeting and Field Visit of Bismil Wastewater Project, which is under construction within the scope of IPA II
Sector Operational Programme for Environment and Climate Action, took place with the participation of the contracting aut-
hority, the end beneficiary of the project, which is ʷ˜ˬ˔˥˕˔˞ͻ˥ Water Supply and Sewerage Authority, and representatives from
the contractor. 53% of physical progress was made in the ongoing construction of the wastewater treatment plant. Physical
progress for the collector section is approximately at 92% and the construction of the sewer line, including the 20.5 km main
collector line, has been completed.

The introductory meeting of the ̙˔ˡ˞ͻ˥ͻ Wastewater Project, which is under the IPA II period, took place. The project, with a
capacity of 20 thousand m³/day, which will serve 125 thousand people, will generate some of its own electricity need. The
construction of 43-km wastewater network is planned within the scope of the project. The total contract value of the project
is approximately EUR 18.5 million, with 85 percent funded by the EU, 6 percent by national contribution and 9 percent by the
municipality. The project that will provide wastewater treatment services to ̙˔ˡ˞ͻ˥ͻ at European Union standards consists of 3
components, namely Technical Assistance and Supervision for ̙˔ˡ˞ͻ˥ͻ Wastewater Project, Construction of ̙˔ˡ˞ͻ˥ͻ Wastewater
Treatment Plant and Wastewater Collector Lines.
6.8 Million Euro Financing for Climate
Change Adaptation Projects
The information meeting on the “Climate Change Adaptati-
on Grant Programme”, whose pre-application evaluation was
completed, was held in Ankara. A financing amounting to 6.8
million Euros will be allocated for the projects to be supported
by the programme funded by Türkiye and the European Union
and carried out by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization
and Climate Change with the support of the United Nations
Development Programme.
