                1.2. Technical Details of Creating Macro-catchment

                In this water harvesting method, the main principle is similar to that of micro-
              catchment water harvesting. The existing water flow is collected on the soil surface
              and the excess water is removed from the soil in a controlled manner. However,
              in this method, there is a large basin apart from the cultivation and planting area.
                The  slope  of  the  marcro-catchment  area  varies  between  0%  and  50%.
              This method is usually applied in regions with annual precipitation amount
              of 200-1500 mm (Studer & Liniger, 2013). Macro-cathment water harvesting
              techniques include stone bunds, wide half-circle bunds, trapezoidal bunds,
              and water diversion channels in slope areas (Figure 1).
