With the aim of transferring the eco-labeling systems being applied
worldwide into the internal legislation in Türkiye, the Turkish Ministry of
Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change published “Environmental
Labeling Regulation (ÇEY)” in the Official Gazette no. 30570 dated 19.10.2018.
The purpose of this regulation is defined as
“To promote products or services that have a less environmental impact
            throughout their life-cycle, to create a volunteer-based environmental-labeling
system for ensuring the flow of accurate information having a scientific basis
to the consumers and to regulate the administrative and technical aspects in
this regard”, as well as the procedures and principles for implementing the
system”. The regulation is aimed at granting the “TYPE 1” group environmental
label certificate, which is defined by the ISO 14024 standard (ISO, 1999). The
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) defines three different
label standards within the scope of the ISO 14020 standard (ISO, 2000). As
is seen in ANNEX 1, there are differences between these three standards in
terms of quality, target group, and scope.
This study, starting from the effects of eco-label applications in terms of
sustainable production and consumption, presents brief information on the
importance of eco-labels with regards to circular economy strategy, how
