quite high when examined in terms of urban comfort. In this respect, the
results of the study opened a discussion on the aspects which are effective in
the mitigation of urban heat island effects.
The findings of the study suggest that in the mitigation of the effects of
urban heat islands, (1) urban cool area size is the most important variable, (2)
as well as the presence of green spaces, the spatial arrangement of the green
areas is also important, (3) it is an effective to increase the interaction surfaces
between the areas with cooling effect such as water surfaces and green areas,
and urban areas, and (4) there is need for the reduction of impermeable
surfaces in urban areas. There is need for investigation of how spatial features
change in urban warn areas and discussion of the differences between regions
with concentrations of high and low temperatures. The findings of this study
contribute to decisions and strategies for spatial planning practices towards
mitigation of urban heat island effect.
