H.11. European Environment Agency (EEA) Studies

The European Environment Agency (EEA), officially established in 1990 with Council By-law
1210/90, began its operations in Copenhagen in 1994. The EEA is the European Union (EU) ins-
titution responsible for providing sound, independent information on the environment. The
current 32 members are 27 EU Member States, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and
Türkiye. Türkiye became a member of the EEA on 01 May 2003 with the “Agreement on the
Participation of the Republic of Türkiye in the European Environment Agency and the European
Information and Observation Network” published in the Official Gazette dated 18.03.2003 and
numbered 25052.

H.11.1. Studies Participated in Abroad

EEA Workshops and meetings are organized by the EEA on a regular basis each year on topics
determined in line with the EEA 5-Year Strategy. In addition, EEA also organizes online webinar
meetings on various topics. Primary Focal Points, representatives of relevant institutions and the
National Focal Point participated in these meetings and webinars.

Meetings, Workshops and Webinars: Many meetings and webinars were held by the EEA betwe-
en 2019 and 2023. Due to the pandemic, all meetings were held online between the end of 2019
