non-forested areas, but also in landscape applications for green transformation
and climate-resilient solutions in settlements, making it an appropriate approach
in terms of both mitigating and adapting to climate change.
In arid and semi-arid areas, land reclamation, the creation of new carbon
sinks, and the establishment of food and fodder sources through planting
and sowing activities are not sufficient on their own to achieve the set goals.
Considering factors such as human-induced degradation and pressures in
pastures and other non-forested areas, as well as prolonged and extremely
dry vegetation periods, it is crucial to conduct problem, risk, and stakeholder
analyses. At this point, before starting the work, it is essential to gather
the opinions of stakeholders and the local community and to make plans
accordingly. After the concept is established, it is crucial to implement certain
measures (such as water harvesting techniques, soil cultivation, irrigation in
the first years, maintenance, windbreaks in wind erosion areas, etc.) during
land protection, land preparation, and planting activities.
Studies conducted and sustained with such nature-based solutions serve
as a roadmap for future applications in solving the main issues in our country’s
              arid and semi-arid areas.
