               Only  with  a  holistic  Marine  Science  approach  will  it  be  possible  to
            understand the effects on the Marmara Sea, to rehabilitate the ecosystem
            of Marmara Sea before it is too late, and to propose solutions for it. In this
            context, the current situation of the Sea of Marmara has been revealed, and
            studies are ongoing in detail for the possible ecological problems to be faced
            in the Marmara Sea. The studies for understanding and creating the solution
            proposals still continue in the scope of MARMOD Phase II Project by means
            of the observation and model simulation results regarding the main reasons
            of deoxygenation problem in the Marmara Sea and this basic change. It is
            quite essential, for Marmara Sea, to decrease the non-point and point inputs,
            to regulate the fishery activities with an ecosystem based approach and to
            implement the science-based Marmara Sea Action Plan prepared with the
            participation of a range of stakeholders, with patience and determination.
            Upon the completion of the project by the end of 2023 required load reduction
            proposals will be presented for the waste waters in the scope of appropriate
            regulations, and this will contribute to the ecologically-based improvement of
            quality of water in Marmara Sea.
